Maya

National Director

My name is Maya and I study agricultural science in Bonn. After 1.5 years of online studies, I wanted to find a way to meet like-minded people in the topic of agriculture and climate change, since the pandemic had greatly limited the ability to connect with peers.

The open-mindedness and international orientation of the organization as well as the opportunity to meet so many interesting people from the area and from around the globe is what motivated me to play an active part in IAAS.

From attending international conferences and motivation weekends, to going on study excursions, I had the unique chance to get to exchange experiences with other students, gather valuable knowledge and deepen my passion for my studies.

As National Director I hope to be able to convince other students on a local and national level about how joining IAAS can broaden your horizon and really enrich your time as a student!

Simon

Exchange Coordinator

My name is Simon and I study agricultural science in Bonn. I joined the IAAS committee in 2021 and since 2022 I’m the Exchange Coordinator of IAAS Germany.

Being a member of IAAS is a great opportunity for me. I think the exchange of knowledge on an international level is very valuable and important for sciences. But also being able to get to know new people and cultures is a big part of IAAS, which I appreciate a lot!

I already learned a lot during international events and I have had unique experiences

Felix

Finance Coordinator

Hey guys, I'm Felix and I joined IAAS in 2020. Currently I'm the financial Coordinator of Germany/Bonn. I started studying agriculture science in 2019 and I'm going to finish this year(2022).

I joined IAAS because I wanted to get more involved in the agricultural sector and found the principle of international exchange very interesting.

I had the opportunity to travel to Peru, Croatia and France as well as to host international students in Germany.

In my opinion, IAAS offers excellent opportunities to socialize, gain experience and make friends

My name is Jan. Since 2015, I have gathered a lot of IAAS experience including EDM, ExPro, Seminars and Exchangeweeks. IAAS has been an essential component in my study life associated with journeys and friends around the globe. However, it is not only the traveling but also the social, cultural and professional exchange what makes IAAS great for me. On a local scale I hope to convince every student with the passion and fascination of IAAS, in order to keep the spirit alive in our committee!

I am Marie-Agnès (Fine). I studied Food Industries and Biotechnology in Nancy. Now I am doing a second master in European Studies in Bonn. I discovered IAAS in my home country, France. After attending IAAS events abroad, I decided to get more involved at the European and then world level. I have been Vice-President of Finances and Vice-President of External Relations in the Executive Board. I currently co-lead the IAAS Food & Agriculture Youth Institute.

In order to continue my academic career, I enrolled for a degree in Agricultural Science at the University of Bonn, after completing a Bachelor of Sociology in Frankfurt in 2017. In my opinion, IAAS offers the opportunity to get in touch with international students from all over the world and to gain new experiences by participating in scientific excursions. Attending IAAS means being part of an open-minded student organization that greatly enriches college life. In addition, I appreciate our local IAAS garden, where we grow a variety of vegetables and get some change from academic university life.

Since my bachelor ended and my master’s degree started in 2019 at the University of Bonn, I have been an IAAS member. I am mesmerized by the diverse activities IAAS offers. On the local scale, it is the get-together with fellow students in excursions, discussions, and gardening. On the International scale, it is also the connection and networking knowing IAAS is spread over the World. If International meetings happen, you always know other students will have agricultural-related knowledge. Dependent on the focus set in the study term, everyone brings specific comprehension of a topic to the international scale. The exchange with other students is vital for global climate challenges especially where agriculture can contribute. This is the reason why IAAS matters to me.

I study Food Sciences(BSc) in Bonn and always wanted to join an organisation to meet new people who also study in kind of the same field. It allows me to get new insights to new topics that are related to my studies. The familIAAS spirit is very special and I already had the fantastic opportunity to experience it on my own during international events. Becoming a member of IAAS has been one of the best decisions I could have made to enrich my study times.
